i step on sand, sand lights up...

me and my homies wuz walkin on the beach when my man nick wuz all like "[...]am i trippin' or are there stars in the sand???" [...] it only lit up when you stepped on it and if the sand was wet-ish. then they wast like everywhere. [...] This is when we made the revolutionary discovery of Bioluminescent Dinoflagellates, or also Noctiluca. Interested by this spectacle, we read on to learn that these "stars in the sand" were actually noctiluscent organisms, washed out of the ocean by waves, and stimulated by the movement of the sand particles as they compressed under the weight of our feet. Only visible at night, and under the perfect circumstances, we felt honored and privileged to have experienced this phenomena.
