Dead or Alive before coming to beach?
Description and Comments
We are in South Carolina and there are a lot of jellyfish on the beach besides the ones that we can see in the water. What I can't find out is do they die and then get washed on the beach or do they die because they got washed up on the beach?
I believe they are cannonball jellyfish. They are so fascinating to look at. I want to take one back to Ohio for our grandsons to look at. I don't know if there is some law that won't allow this. We will ask before just taking.

HI there. The jellies are
HI there. The jellies are likely alive before they get stuck on the beach. in some cases they might be in bad shape and then wash up. You might be able to take them back on the plane in your luggage, but they could be smelly by the time you get there. I wouldn't take them in my carry-on -- more than 3 ounces of liquid or gel!
