Description and Comments
single large brown jelly swimming off Anacapa island. Very few jellies seen. A couple of beaten up comb jellies and this chewed up brown jelly.

Thanks. Haven't seen one before. What does jelly watch have to say about the abnormally warm ocean temperatures we are seeing now. I've dived the Northern Channel Islands for years, and have never seen this.

Still mixed opinions on the severity, but many indications of an El Nino event. SST anomaly certainly does show relatively warm water off California.. http://www.bom.gov.au/climate/enso/#tabs=Sea-surface
