Six jellyfish genera I was identified in Santa Marta region (2009), belonging to two classes and six families that were distributed as follows: class Cubozoa: with the family Chirodropidae (genus Chiropsalmus) and Alatinidae nov., (genus Alatina nov.); class Scyphozoa with the families Pelagiidae (genus Chrysaora); Cassiopeidae (genus Cassiopea); Lychnorhizidae (genus Lychnorhiza) and Stomolophidae (genus Stomolophus)
