Beautiful photo! This
Beautiful photo! This species is the Mauve Stinger (so-called for its color), scientific name Pelagia noctiluca. They are common worldwide and give a moderate to painful sting. It is suggested to avoid contact with them. Blooms of these medusae often occur, where thousands, if not millions occupy an expansive area.
