Still jellies around
Description and Comments
Went for a stand-up paddle around Deep Cove. Weather and viz were both fantastic. I spotted lots of jellies, including:
-a couple dozen Cyanea capillata - interestingly, these were a mix of sizes. Usually by this time of year there are only large ones, but there were numerous small ones (BD~5-15cm) and several large ones (BD~50-100cm)
-a couple dozen Aequorea victoria - these were all of consistent size (BD~7cm)
-3 Aurelia labiata - these were all large (BD~20cm); two were damaged (but alive) missing 20-40% of their bell. Interestingly, I haven't seen many Aurelia around Deep Cove this year, in comparison with some years when they bloom in astounding density
-patches of dozens of small Mitrocoma cellularia (BD~1-3cm)
-patches of several small Pleurobrachia bachei (~1cm)
