Fresh water sighting

Description and Comments

Northern Calif Lake Grass Valley. Observing this lake for over 30 years, the first showing of the jelly had a bloom with thousands of them about the size of a quarter. Bryazoa have been growing annually in this lake building masses the size of basketballs prior to this bloom of jellys. Warm water, clear. Clogging of irrigation pumps. I am an authorized Ca. applicator of chemicals to control the weed populations in hopes of reducing nutrients within the body of water using spot treatments. Annually once previously (failure throughout the season and went to three treatments this year and saw this bloom of jellies. Used REward/Cutrine with surfactant to have success while controlling the growing populations. Aerators have now a three year use in an effort to wean off of chemicals to shift to aerobic enzymic population to reduce the nutrient based decomposing organic materials. The bloom was gone within a few days. Never seen before in this lake.
