Incredible biomass of Aequorea
Description and Comments
Observed a massive amount of Aequorea as we motored up Trincomali Channel on a sailboat. Conditions were very calm, and Aequorea in surface waters averaged at least 1-2 medusae per cubic metre. The bloom extended [at least] all the way from the Rose Islets to Ruxton Island (and probably further). This was by far the largest biomass of Aequorea I have ever seen. Size varied but mode was a BD of about 8cm. Also spotted the occasional moon jelly Aurelia labiata with BD of ~15cm.

Sounds amazing. Apparently
Sounds amazing. Apparently the GFP studies did not have wide effects on their populations. Thanks for the report as always.
