Rare Australian Spotted Jellyfish swimming in front of Coronado Yacht Club. Warm El Nino currents brought it from thousands of miles away according to news stories.

However, your comment that "Warm El Nino currents brought it rom thousands of miles away." is almost assuredly not accurate. Phyllorhiza punctuate has been in San Diego waters since at least 1981, as recorded by Larson and Arneson (1990) and has been found farther south (near La Paz). A more complete worldwide introduced ran is in Bayha and Graham (2014). It is more likely that perhaps El Nino is making the waters better for strobilation AND/OR large adults have been advected north from Mexico.
