odd clam

Description and Comments

2 1/2" clam, taken from VA/NC line area. Shallow water in a clam harvest. Heavy, backward facing beaks. Periostracum velvety, that is nearly black. This description matches that of a Ponderous Ark, however this clam was quite bloody red inside when opened, indicating that it should be a Bloody Ark and it has a definite heart shape when looked at on end, but the rest of the description more closely matches the Ponderous Ark's.
