we have been coming to South Padre Island, Texas for 17 years and this is the first time we have ever seen velella velellas washed up on the shore. These are a blue jelly type with a blue firm jelly kind of a fin on the top with a round or oblong body. They lay flat on the sand with the "fin" sticking up
