Moon jellies in Jellyfish Cove in Long Beach, California, USA
Description and Comments
We moved into this neighborhood in 2008 and in the summer of 2009 there were thousands of Moon Jellies at the end of the canal which has been dubbed Jellyfish Cove because of previous sightings. Since 2009 there have been rare sightings but this year there are again thousands of moon jellies in the cove. They are small and move around the cove, sometimes between the boat dock and the seawall and sometimes in the center of the cove. They are only found in this cove, nowhere else in Alamitos Bay.
