pelagic tunicate
Description and Comments
I've been an active diver in the Northern Channel islands for years, and rarely saw jellies there. I'd never seen a salp. When I first saw this salp I thought it was a plastic bag, and went to put it in my BCD pocket! I sent my photos to the MBA where I have been a member for many years, when my friends could not ID it. Since that time I have seen other salps new to the area. Now that I have found this site, I will post updates.

That is great. We really appreciate it, and fun story about seeing your first of the legendary salps. They have been very abundant along the California coast this year.
