You are finding some unusual
You are finding some unusual things! Can you update the map location to show the approximate beach?
Best guess would be badly decomposed salps.
Thanks for reporting.
Thanks for the info!! There
Thanks for the info!! There were a bunch of them in a cove. The surrounding area is private property. There was a lot of plastic garbage too. Scared me thinking about the tsunami debri. It's something like (I'll spell it like it sounds) T-neat-us Creek? Something like that? I tried to drag the jelly on the map but it wouldn't move? Is there a trick to this, heeheee??
Yes, strange things are washing up I found a HUGE Spider crab in the Capitola area. I can post the pic if you'd like, it was the biggest many of us had ever seen, it was dead. It was blue, then I found another blue, smaller one today, dead also. I beach explore all of the time and watch for stuff. I'm glad I found your site, it's so cool :D
Do you think these Salps could have been from Japan? They were stiff as cardboard.
We'll have to think about
We'll have to think about where "tneatus" creek might be!
If you are logged in, you should see a set of tabs across the top of the sighting page. Click on Edit and it will let you drag the pin on the map, then save the new location with the button at the bottom.
Did you take the pic with your phone or a camera? If it was your phone, then the lat/lon might be embedded. We can check that too.
The salps wouldn't likely be from Japan. They would have decayed before makong it here to dry up, and there has been a big bloom of them off the California coast, including shutting down Diablo Canyon power plant's water intake...
