Unusual deaths?

I recently (04-16-12) spent a week on the beach at Cherry Grove S.C. I counted app. 35-40 dead jellyfish that were washed up on the beach. They were basically clear with dark red marking around the bottom of the rounded tops, and no long arms/stingers.Is there something abnormal about this? They ranged from adult to babies, it was a very sad sight.
