Mitrocoma cellularia (Cross Jellyfish) & Aequorea victoria (Water Jelly) & Eutonina indicans (Umbrella Jelly) at Mats Mats Bay, WA, USA
Description and Comments
I often kayak in Mats Mats Bay, a bay on the Salish Sea (Puget Sound) on the Olympic Peninsula of Washington state, USA. For the first time I saw thousands of tiny Mitrocoma cellularia (Cross Jellyfish) & Aequorea victoria (Water Jelly) & Eutonina indicans (Umbrella Jelly) on May 2, 2021. Two weeks later in a fjord called Hood Canal, at Triton State Park, about an hour south, I saw millions and millions of tiny jellies that looked like these, as well as six large Cyanea ferruginea (Lion's Mane Jelly) and two smaller Phacellophora camtschatica (Fried Egg Jelly). That alarmed me. I will use this report for Mats Mats, as I could not photograph the Triton Cove state park jellies.
