Group of Rhizostoma pulmo

Description and Comments

Group of Rhizostoma pulmo (I counted at least 15) of various sizes (fist-size to basketball-size) observed at about 5:00 PM; all were healthy and actively pulsating just below the water surface approximately 150-200 meters from the shoreline at Lu Impostu beach (Sardegna). Water was generally clean with good visibility. None of the medusae had fish swimming under the bell or around the tentacles.
