Velella during hike

I saw lots of velella velella washed up between Fort Ord State Beach and Monterey today along the swash lines. The biggest proliferation was at Fort Ord Beach. It tapered off a bit heading south, almost disappeared around the old dump site in Seaside, then reappeared, albeit in smaller numbers in Monterey.
