By The Wind Sailors (Velella Velella)

Found hundreds of beautiful little Jelly like creatures called By The Wind Sailors or Scientific Name: Velella Velella. They were blowing ashore on August 18th mid afternoon at Playa Del Rey Beach adjacent to La Ballona Creek and Dockweiler Beach. They were all over the beach and floating in the surf. Beautiful Blue/Purple ring hanging under the transparent sail above.
