A few scyphos still around

Description and Comments

Spotted a solitary Cyanea capillata (BD~10cm) and a solitary Aurelia labiata (BD~15cm) both actively swimming at the surface near Grey Rocks Island. The only jelly that appeared in large abundances this year seemed to be Cyanea capillata. It has been a bit of a strange fall in Indian Arm characterized by massive mortality of sea stars due to a wasting syndrome and a couple days of noticeable red tides. After a couple weeks of dense fog, our 'rainy season' finally seems to have begun.
