Sea nettles in Monterey Bay

Description and Comments

Still large blooms of sea nettles all over the bay. Aequorea were just below the surface, quite large, but sparsely distributed. Very few moon jellies around, mostly chunks of moon jellies. Saw a few Phacellophora as well. There were a lot of siphonophores and salps at the surface. An ~100 ft. deep plankton tow yielded tons of Solmaris medusae, but they were not present at the surface at all. The surface tow has no Solmaris. Also got one Leuckartiara in the deep tow.
