Bioluminescence

Description and Comments

There are incredible amounts of bioluminescent plankton (like that of Puerto Rico) in The Sound on the other side of the Pensacola Beach peninsula. They produce a greenish glow and activate to the touch. They create large clouds of light when swimming through the water, and on the nights with the least light pollution you can see schools of fish glowing through the surface, sting rays, red fish, one time we saw a shark. It is a seasonal occurrence, From the end of August through the end of October.
