Early spring ctenophores, medusae, and worms

Description and Comments

In about ten minutes at 4 pm off the Friday Harbor Labs dock I saw 9 large Pleurobrachei bachei, 1 (2" long) Beroe abyssicola, 3 large Sarsia sp. hydromedusae and 2 "Autolytus" syllid worms. These are among the first of the spring jellies. The ctenophores have just recently arrived, presumably from somewhere else, as they are fully grown.
