Gooseberries on Santa Cruz, CA beach?
Description and Comments
Near low tide last Thursday on 26th Ave beach in Santa Cruz, I saw blobs of transparent jelly broken up forming very partial windrows on the beach (size, biggest pieces ~6 cm). I thought they might be colorless velella velella, but they didn't have any blue. Could these be cat-eye or gooseberry remains? There were none the next day.

6 cm is a bit large to be comb-jelly pieces. Velella take a long time to bleach, and they turn papery white, not clear.
May be pieces of Polyorchis or some other hydromedusa?
