Autumn jelly report from Friday Harbor
Description and Comments
In about 20 minutes on a calm sunny day at the surface off the Friday Harbor Labs dock I saw: 65 Mitrocoma cellularia, 10 Phialidium gregarium, 4 Proboscidactyla flavicirrata, 1 (1" diameter) Aequorea victoria, 1 Stomotoca atra, 1 Muggiaea atlantica siphonophore with long stem with maybe 100 eudoxids, 1 Cyanea capillata, 1 swimming Melibe leonina (nudibranch) and 2 swimming Gastropteron pacificum (usually-benthic snails). Later we also saw 2 Pleurobrachia bachei and 2 Nanomia bijuga. Not bad for so late in the year.
