Swimming in the sea at night on the 13th and 14th of august 2010, luminescence everywhere in waves as we swam and on the sand when we stepped on it

Thanks for the report. Sounds like fun. Not actually from bacteria if you could see them sparkling -- more likely dinoflagellates or possibly other plankton.
