Geryonia (?) plus others (Suffolk, UK)

Description and Comments

Unusual intact live medusa in shallows at Shingle Street beach. Clear jelly, rather featureless hemispherical bell c.6cm diameter. No oral arms but rather a single conical protrusion beneath bell with four radial markings entending down it. About sixteen tentacles c.10cm long which were sticky to the touch and detached rather easily. Overall the closest resemblance I can find is Geryonia proboscidalis. Also c.10 Pleurobrachia and one small cross jelly (resembled Clytia). Unusual to find anything at this time of year and unfortunately I didn't have camera :( - EDIT now believe the medusa was Tima bairdii.
