fried egg (cotylorhiza tuberculata) jellyfish
Description and Comments
surprisingly, there has been virtually no jellyfish this year. i least where i am. there have been reports of large jellyfish blooms at nice. but only a handfuil for me at my usual spot. granted i have not been swimming as regularly as i would like due to the dreaded "work" thing.
but anyways. it has been surprisingly temperate for the summer here. it was the first real summer-like day since june. the temperatures were in the high 80s, the sea was calm and very warm. was surprised to see one fried egg jelly, because generally it is the mauve stingers that i see most often. mediums size, maybe 15cm across, with one little companion fish.
also found the smallest octopus yet. she was miniscule! her name is paulette. :D
