Vellela stranded - Oceanside, CA

Saw many velella stranded on the beach at low tide to the left and right of the Oceanside pier in Oceanside, CA. Maybe 150-200 of them out a quarter mile from each side of the pier. They were washed up with sea foam, bits of kelp and other seaweed. The vellela were moist and had not dried out in the sun but were stranded.
