Velellas on Heceta Beach, Florence, Oregon

Description and Comments

Saw about 2 -3 dozen small velellas stranded just as the tide was starting to come in. Ranged in size from smallest 2”x 1” to the largest 3”x2”. They were still in perfect condition beautiful indigo, blue disc “tentacle, and a clear sail. They were not dried up and had not turned white and crunchy. The Heceta beach is very flat with no rocks or other debris.
