bioluminescent organisms

While boogie boarding at night observed several organisms with the same luminescent structure and color pattern. Being in surf between sets of waves creatures were at surface of water floating/moving immediately adjacent to board. Color of lights were red, white, and purplish - amazing. Could possibly have been squid-like but conditions not favorable for inspection details since it was dark and somewhat foggy. Location was approximately 250 ft off shore at 8:00 pm PDT.
