Noticed windrows of what looked like blue-grey ash along a small pocket beach on the rocky coastline in Pacific Grove. Turned out to be over 100 beached Velella. Most were only about 1/2 to 1 inch long. Conditions had been very windy for several days with strong wave action and tides.
