Velella at La Jolla Shores

Description and Comments

There were a few (6) scattered, deceased velella among the kelp washed up on La Jolla Shores beach in San Diego. Most were transparent. One still had some violet color. None appeared to be alive. There were large clumps of kelp and sea grass on the beach, and the tide was coming in.
