Dead and live specimens at water's edge, also some washed-up. Sizes from 0.5cm - 2cm. Washed-up specimens on mud flats apparently being eaten by little black worm-like organisms (pictured).

Wow -- crazy. The worm-like things are arthropods called "springtails" (Collembola), in the genus Anurida according to Casey Dunn.
