Sea nettles still in force in Monterey Bay

Description and Comments

Went out to middle bay for plankton, unusual amount of copepods this time of year at the surface. No hydrozoa at all in the tow, all copepods. Larvaceans were present. Returning to Pt. Pinos we found slicks holding beat up moon jellies. Then as we crossed the buoy off the point, thousands of Chrysaora fuscescens were near the surface with a few scattered moon jellies. Very high density and in a small area only, from Pt. Pinos to Lovers Point.
