Photoluminescence - pyrosome

On a boat off the coast of Turkey near town of Fetbiye we swam in the water at night and when we moved our hands of feet quickly there seemed to be sparkles underneath the surface. They weren't visible without agitating the water somewhat vigorously. Also, earlier in the day swimmers in our group felt, but couldn't see stinging jelly fish ot some water creature that left welts the size of a mosquito
