Box Jellyfish Myrtle Beach
Description and Comments
Got reports of several bad stings at Myrtle beach. We quickly packed up and headed there. Seemed to be a lot of concerned beach goers. We found tons of Atlantic Nettles (Chrysaora quinquecirrha) and four Chiropsalmus Box Jellyfish. Two of these specimens were in very good health, which is odd. Additionally, I was stung by one. It produced a very painful sting on my hand, but didn't seem to create life threatening symptoms. Possible chest tightening.

Hmm, interesting. I've heard
Hmm, interesting. I've heard from some people the sting of Atlantic Chiropsalmus quadrumanus isn't that bad. Of course, there are likely multiple species we don't realize, so chances are some are worse than others.
