several, large accumulations of 250 or more jellies, tightly grouped, appeared outside the surf at Counter Point (Coal Oil Point Natural Reserve), Goleta, California, USA on Friday, April 23 and again the following days through Monday, April 26, 2010.

The timing of the photo
The timing of the photo coincides with a report from the UCSB naturalist of a Chrysaora fuscescens bloom that was present. The bells look very brown like C. fuscescens, black jellies would have been a very dark purple.
