Sirolo, Riviera de Conero, Italy
Description and Comments
Hundreds of Cotylorhiza tuberculata were washed ashore on 23/08/13 after a couple of stormy days. They are floating in the water, and in some places they floating as "jellyfish mats" together with debris. Before that (~2 weeks) we saw them occasionally in the morning ashore. A couple of days ago something stung my relative. The sting felt like Pelagia noctilucaat sting (we had an experience). At the beginning the sting also looked like one from Pelagia noctilucaat (red spots), but the next day the sting dissipated and was not painful.
