Pink Sea Critter

Description and Comments

I saw two of these on the same day in the same area. The one in the photo was moving independently of the current by undulating the areas outside what looks like ribs. I estimate it was 8"-10" across. These were in a harbor, but I think they came in on the tide. Ketchikan, Alaska in June of 2006

Thanks for sending the pic. It helps with the ID! Looks like a torn piece of "oral arms" from a jellyfish -- the frilly part under the bell, inside the ring of tentacles.
