Thysanostoma flagellatum, Palau

Description and Comments

On 04/05/2010 while SCUBA diving I observed this one solitary Thysanostoma flagellatum specimen actively swimming while drifting South with a 1.5kt current. No other gelatinous zooplankton were seen in the vicinity. Bottom depth 3m; Jelly depth in water column 1m; Jelly size-Bell approximately 22cm Dia; 5 symbiotic fish were seen inside the bell: Bottom substrate-Mostly acroporid corals; Water temperature-27˚;Sea condition-Calm, Sky-Full sun; Tide falling; Palau, Koror, "ioul Lukes reef"; 07°17.238' North 134°30.204' East.
