Velella washup

significant Velella washup on Clam Beach, Humboldt County, CA, US. Based on photos of similar sightings from 12 MAY on nearby beaches, I would guess that this washup happened at the same time. Still plenty of color in the individuals, but clearly not fresh. Accumulated at the wrack line. See photo. Extensive--the full 1.5 miles that I usually walk, to mouth of Mad River.
