3 Lion's Mane Jellies, Whidbey Island, Washington

Description and Comments

I took my kids for a little beach combing and came across the remains of three different Loin's Mane jellies just being washed up on the beach. They were all a nice darker redish color with scalloped edges. One looked to be about 18 inches or so across, but I think it might have been missing some of the bell. One was smaller, about 14 inches. One was too damaged to tell anything about size. These were all coming in on the surf of the small beach next to the Clinton Ferry dock on Whidbey Island today.
